  • Any Z-Series node or L-AMP that has not been configured or configured, but NTP is unreachable will raise this alarm.

Source Type: "Will report against controller card" (BOSS in Z77, slot 1 or 2 / CEM or CEMi for Z22/Z33, slot A or B)
Probable Cause: Not Configured/Unreachable
Qualifier: NTP Host
Additional Information: NTP not configured or unreachable

  • Z-Series node
  • L-AMP

Actions to clear the alarm:

Step 1: Verify connectivity between the node and NTP server.

Step 2: Using Planet Operate, verify provisioning on node:

   a. Display the node (Front Panel tab).

   b. From the main menu, select Node -> Node Addresses (or click the wrench icon).

   c. In the Configure Node Addresses dialog box, click the Network Time tab.

   d. Verify Primary and/or Secondary NTP Server provisioning with NTP source IP address.

   e. Click Update Status to retrieve current status of NTP sources. Active source will have an asterisk in remote column.

Step 3:  A non-GNE node may display this alarm due to  DCN or GNE management connection issues.   Check for GNE Management port alarms such as "Gigabit Ethernet Port REFAC-1-1-1 Link Failure" and check connected Switch/Router for corresponding port flaps which could cause deletion of all routes to the NTP Servers.

Step 4:   If Alarm is active, check Route Tables, pings and traceroutes to the NTP servers to help determine if it is a DCN issue.
